Spiritual guidance (or spiritual direction) is an ancient practice found in nearly every religion in which a seeker desires conversations to grow in a closer or more intentional walk with God. On the broadest level, it explores life’s meaning and direction. All of life can be considered but always with the question what can be learned from these experiences and where is God in them.
Anyone who wants a deeper connection to God or clarity about life’s call and purpose might benefit from spiritual guidance. Spiritual direction differs from psychotherapy or counseling which generally focuses on the emotional life. Spiritual guidance focuses on one’s spiritual or faith walk. Spiritual practices are often explored.
Most people choose to meet once a month–sometimes for just a few conversations to consider one topic or area of life while others may use it as a continual practice of faith. Although there is not a set fee, individuals generally offer some remuneration.
